Unfortunately this is kinda bugged both in 4.27.2 (in standalone only) and 5.0 for now afaik. Custom primitive data for foliage instances is broken! Works great in 4.27.2 in viewport though :D

Grass growths back in time but you can cut it at any time and the very precise amount of grass will be cut. It's pixel perfect.

You can customize the cut effect. Here's I'm no longer restraining the cut to a cone. Grass is cut radially all around the player.
